Non Slip Mat

There are many kinds of non slip mats and non slip matting available on the marketplace.

They range from ones designed for industrial and commercial ground use, to bath mats (I love my kids Sponge Bob bathmat!), to non slip yoga mats, pastry mats, and ones designed for automotive use.

First a quick story. I almost live in my car, in part because I travel for work, travel back and forth to clients and the office, and have a somewhat insane home life that keeps me gone a lot. My car is my mobile office as well as my mobile learning center. I always need my cell phone handy, a pad of paper to jot notes down, as well as CDs, my mp3 player, and an adaptor to plug the mp3 player into the car radio.

Although I'll admit to often blasting music and evening singing discordantly along, I usually am listening to audio - one of many educational podcasts or CDs that I own. I learn a lot as I drive.

I also was almost always searching for something when driving, ranging from my cellphone that always seemed to fall between the seats or on the floor or that CD I was going to put on next or almost anything else. The passenger seat isn't always convenient to place things on for many reasons including the occasional use for (gulp!) passengers and that it's just not designed for small objects.

I'd often put things on the dashboard or on the armrest, only to find them missing when I needed them, having slipped off during driving.

My wife gave me a small non slip mat from Radio Shack to put on my dash board. Suddenly things nearly never slide off this little piece of near miraculous rubber. I added another one for the dash and placed one on the armrest between the seats too. Although I first only found them at Radio Shack, I have since seen them at Target, Walmart, and of course online too.

They are not all the same, some are better than others. I've been very happy with the Handstands Original Sticky Pad. I almost never need to search for my cell phone now when it's ringing, except of course when I've forgotten it in my pocket!

It's also great for pens, sunglasses, little notepads, and much more. Pretty amazing actually.

You can also get sheets of non slip matting and cut them to size. I'm considering that for my next car, having the entire dashboard covered in a dashboard non slip mat.
