Vinyl Stair Treads

Vinyl stair treads are often used because quite simply they are less expensive than many other types of stair treads yet perform similar purposes.

First and perhaps foremost is safety. They have non-slip non-skid surfaces and add to staircase safety. Also, they help protect stairs again wear. As stairs are high traffic areas of any house or building this can be significant. It's easier to replace vinyl stair treads than the underlying wooded stair treads.

Although vinyl stair treads are rarely if ever used for their decorative purposes, unlike carpet stair treads, they can add a finished look to stairs.

We mentioned their cost. As an example, these Vinyl Stair Treads cost less than three dollars each! They are 24 inches wide, 10 1/2" deep, and heavy duty with bullnose edging, and easy to install with construction adhesives, tacks or nails. These are for indoor use only.

Another example is these Industrial Strength Vinyl Treads which come in four packs and are designed to take a beating. They have a rib pattern, are 12 inches deep with a 1 1/4 inch nose and are 36 inches wide. They meet Federal Spec. RR-T-650E and GSA-FSS standard ZZ-T-001237 which you can Google for information if needed.

You can also surely find vinyl stair treads locally at your hardware store, home improvement store, and many large department stores. Remember that one of their big selling points is that they are less expensive alternatives to, for example, rubber stair treads.  Because of their economy, you'll often find them in industrial and commercial applications, for example in many office buildings, factories, and multiunit residential dwelling and apartment building.
